Day 4, the Tower of London!

Knowing that we might need a bit of time to pack we decided to make this a lighter day.  At least that's what we thought!

Headed out slightly later and went straight to the tower.  At least as straight as we could with the underground being worked on.  The tour by the Beefeater was really great.  He was a retired chief warrant officer...and a Scotsman.  Talk about fun!  Like being guided by Mike Myers.  I kept wanting to shout, " Piper Doon, we'va piper doon!

Then it was crown jewels time.  Seeing both the largest and second largest diamonds in the world, in one room is nearly unbelievable.  Big, huge, like 530 carats huge, and that's just one of them.

We came out of that just in time to get the white Tower Tour. It's a lesser known but every bit as good as the beefeater. Make sure to take both of the tours if you visit. By the time we had finished those and wondered around the grounds we been there for 5 hours. It was nearly 2:30 and we had not eaten lunch yet. A bit wondering around found us yet another great place that serves wonderful english food, roast beef with all the fixings. From there we headed over to see london bridge. Alittle bit of advice don't bother going. It's a modern, regular, plain bridge. It did lead us to a really good spot to take pictures of the tower bridge and we also found the fire monument. We made our way home and had dinner work out with our hosts. Itwhat is a very lovely evening. Tomorrow, North to York!
